Doctor of Philosophy In Engineering from University of California, in Berkeley (1976). Postdoctoral studies at the University of Stuttgart (1985/1986). Title of PhD thesis: A Multicriteria Decisionmaking Framework for the Evaluation of Forest Road Investment Projects. Full professor of Ibmec/Rio de Janeiro. Member of the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making. Former President of the Brazilian Operations Research Society.
